Bayview Central Curlewis local residents already know Curlewis Golf Club is the best and friendliest in our region, but did you know it’s the fastest growing club in Australia?

The club, bought by David and Lyndsay Sharp last year, is currently ranked 78th in Australia’s ‘Top 100 Golf Courses’ list.

Club manager Brendan Caligari told the Geelong Advertiser on June 15 that 120 new members had joined since July last year, saying the success was due to the club’s friendly atmosphere, and the fact that it welcomed golfers of all ages and levels.

If you haven’t been on course for a while, there’s been plenty happening on and off the greens.

There’s now a rabbit-proof fence (an Australian first), and golfers can take part in weekly group golf fitness classes.  Players can whiz around the greens on the club’s new GolfBoards – a cross between a golf cart, snowboard and Segway.

 Then there’s the resident duck family and Morwood the goat.

Off the greens, the club house is open seven days, and the bistro is now open for dinner Friday and Saturday nights from 6pm.

 The excitement continues as plans are underway for a clubhouse refurbishment with accommodation for golfers to stay and play, including a pool and gym.

 Curlewis Golf Club is 15 minutes from Geelong and an hour from Melbourne.
